You get what you deserve, says Mahendra singh dhoni

Calcutta: “It’s the worst thing you can do while representing the country...” is what India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said when Salman Butt and Mohammed Asif (Mohammed Aamer had pleaded guilty) were convicted of spot-fixing.
That was on November 1, before the sentences were pronounced by Justice Jeremy Cooke in the Southwark Crown Court.
Speaking on the issue for the first time after the three Pakistanis got jail sentences, Dhoni told The Telegraph: “It’s not about whether or not I’m happy with the punishment meted out, the fact is that it’s sad for cricket that it had to happen...”

Asked if the sentences would act as a strong deterrent, Dhoni answered: “But fixing shouldn’t have happened in the first place. I do feel very strongly about the whole thing... You get what you deserve.”
Dhoni is very clear about where he stands and the message down the line is clear too. Sourav Ganguly, significantly, had taken the same position after the match-fixing scandal of 2000.
Sourav got the full-fledged support of (among others) top seniors Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid; Anil Kumble and Jawagal Srinath.
