Let Sachin play in peace

Sachin Tendulkar has again missed his 100th century in cricket and everyone has a piece of advice for the champion batsman.
Pressure of expectations, nerves, media hype and stress, they have all been cited to explain what goes through Tendulkar's head and heart while he is in the nervous nineties. Clearly, this reflects our own thinking, with the master preferring to keep quiet.

The point is, for someone as experienced as Tendulkar, the 100th ton will just be a statistical addition to the plethora of records he already holds. Also, since his greatness can hardly be measured in terms of numbers and figures, whether he will get the elusive ton in Australia or not, is not all that important.
The strangest concerns are about whether Tendulkar could, or should, actually retire.
Given his ability to stay fit and motivated even now, clearly Tendulkar is the best judge on how long he is going to serve Indian cricket.
We may all want to celebrate Tendulkar's success, but he must be left alone to play his game. When the big 100 comes, we can always pop the champagne corks.
